The (re)insurance industry is a step ahead of the game when it comes to learning the hard lessons arising out of the current "credit crunch." As experts in risk assumption and management, (re)insurers are wise to some of the pitfalls around the dangers of packaging and selling of risk that have beset the sub-prime mortgage market. Yet, as the capital markets and reinsurance markets continue to converge, the industry would do well to keep some of those hard-won truths in mind.
