Pacific Basin and Australian Storm Data Now Available on PartnerRe’s Award-winning iPad® App – PartnerResearch

PEMBROKE, Bermuda — PartnerRe today released an updated version of PartnerResearch, the free iPad® application, honored with an Innovation Award by Business Insurance earlier this year.

This new version of the App now includes Australian and Pacific storm data and makes it possible to recall the path, extent and intensity of 4,594 individual windstorms across six regions: Australia, Central Pacific, Easte Pacific, North West Pacific, North Atlantic and Europe.

Video tutorials, embedded directly into the App guide users through the App’s many useful features: finding storms, searching specific locations, exploring hazard categories and timelines as well as saving and sending personalized storm views.

Originally launched in September 2013, the PartnerResearch App was developed to offer business partners and risk managers free and direct access to a layer of the proprietary modeling systems compiled by PartnerRe’s dedicated Research team.

“We are very pleased to expand the coverage of our App to include Australian and Pacific tropical wind hazard footprints not otherwise easily accessible in the public domain,” said Brian Secrett, Head of Catastrophe at PartnerRe. “Many of the world’s largest and fastest growing economies are exposed to typhoons and hurricanes in these regions. Northwest Pacific typhoons in particular are more frequent and often more powerful than the North Atlantic hurricanes; combined with the burgeoning risk in the region, they create a volatile mix. The continuing development of PartnerResearch demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the understanding of catastrophe risk worldwide and to sharing our own research with the broader re/insurance industry.”
